LACKAWANNA, NEW YORK, June 25, 2009 – Forgotten Buffalo headed south to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Lackawanna. The tour celebrated the centennial of the “Steel City,” founded in 1909 and originally part of West Seneca, by visiting local landmarks including classic taverns, Erie Co.’s oldest American Legion Post, the Steel Plant Museum and a behind the scenes tour of the Steel Winds windmill complex on the former site of Bethlehem Steel. During the tour, Forgotten Buffalo was joined by Lackawanna Mayor Norman Polanski who discussed the City’s colorful past and what the next 100 years may hold.
