TONDROWSKI SHOES - Paderewski Drive at Fillmore Ave. - LOST JUNE 2007
One of my favorite buildings in the Historic Polonia District. The former shoe store of Melhior Tondrowski at 249 Paderewski Drive was torn down on June 22, 2007. Built in 1885, the original house was moved to the rear of the lot and expanded in 1904. The building featured the original storefront, window surrounds, rear porch with ionic columns and attached barn. According to the Intensive Level Historic Resources Survey of the Broadway-Fillmore Neighborhood, this building was called an "exceptional structure."
