ABOUT TED KANIA....THE ACCORDION MAN
Born September 11, 1941 in the city of Niagara Falls, NY I began playing the accordion at age 10. Studied for five years under the tutelage of Andy Barsocchi, father-in-law of Roxy Caccamise, an accordion pioneer in Western New York. The course of study was grounded in the compositions and arrangements of accordion greats like Charles Magnante, Pietro Frosini, Galarini, Guido and Pietro Derio. Coupling formal lessons with a great ear for all kinds of music Kania expanded his repitior to Country and Western, Polka Music (Polish, Slovenian, German and Italian) and finally Commercial, Jazz, Rock and Blues. When people ask me what kind of music he like best, he responds by saying, ďany kind of music that is performed well. And I play them all!"
