They were part of the leisure wardrobe for thousands of Eastside Buffalonians. A rainbow of walking billboards for business like Nowak’s Automotive, White Eagle Bakery, Simon Pure Beer and Eddy G’s Bar. As the primary uniform of the neighborhood alley, bowling shirts were a point of pride. The 1960…After a hard day at work and hefty dinner with your family, you marched down to the lanes to spend a little quality time with the “boys.” You were loyal to your team and to your sponsor. The accompanying photographs feature 1960s bowling shirts that belonged to my grandfather Roman Lipinski. Shirts include those sponsored by St. Stan's Holy Name, Max Rutecki Funeral Home, The Broadway Grill and Roesler's Kanteen. Other pictures have recently been sent in from visitors to the website.
